Because I Drink It...

Yesterday, Porter started crying in the kitchen like something very wrong happened.

I hurried to find out what was going on, and found him in tears holding Seth's paint-on super glue that was on the counter.

It was open.

I noticed Porter pulling what looked like strings of hardened glue out of his mouth and asked, Did you drink that!?

He tearfully replied, Yeah, in a very panicked voice.

Trying to stay calm I asked, Why did you drink it?

Because, I drink it!

Oh.

Thankfully, super glue is not toxic.

We did spend quite a bit of time trying to get it off our hands after the fact.

Moral of the story...put your super glue away or else your three-year-old may end up thinking it's juice.

Fire

Porter's car caught fire...

...or so he said.

16 Weeks and Poll

Here I am at 16 weeks...

We should find out the sex of the babies on the 31st, but we are curious...

What do you think they will be?

It's still a 50-50 chance!

There's a poll on the left...get guessing!!

Birthday Gift from Mama & Pops

Porter's gift from Mama and Pops was so creative!!

He absolutely loves it!

It's an ABC book!

Made especially for Porter!

All of the pictures are of him, and he loves looking at himself, so he loves the book!

I have video of him reading it, but it's not loading.

With my internet, the video has to be a minute or less to load properly.

So, when we can afford better internet, I'll add it.

Birthday Gift from Gammie and Grumpa

Porter's gift from Gammie and Grumpa....

A '67 Shelby GT 500!

But, that's not all...

An electric '67 Mustang GT

Now Seth and Porter can play together with their electric mustangs!

*Seth didn't want a Valentines day card, so I got him a toy ;)*

At first, Porter wasn't much into using the control to play with his black mustang.

But, he got into it.

And the white one?

He'll just sleep with that.

(Oh, yah, and we got a recliner...for free!)

Mean

It's just mean.

A pregnant woman should not catch a cold.

Let alone catch a cold three times in three months and not be able to take any drugs that will actually help with symptoms.

If you didn't know, I'm a nursery leader.

I take the children with runny noses out of nursery every Sunday to keep myself and the other children from catching their sickness that has already been put in the room because they were dropped off.

Maybe it's pointless of me to do so, but I'm trying to make a point...and that point is:

Parents of children who are in nursery PLEASE do not drop off your kids when they are ill.

And, with that I mean if they have ANY symptoms of being sick don't bring them in.

We already have to deal with the germs on all of the toys because of parents in previous wards who put their sick child in nursery.

We cannot clean those toys every week because...well, we have our own children's toys to clean at home, there's not enough time to do so before or after church, and there seems to be new toys dropped off in there every week.

I think cleaning the nursery toys should be added to the cleaning to do list every time the building gets cleaned...

Being a parent myself, I understand you have a calling and other kids to deal with...etc...but, honestly, I am very much tired of Porter getting sick, of Seth getting sick, but most especially (because I'm growing two babies) of ME getting sick.

When I'm sick, the house falls apart...almost literally.

Granted, it may not have been such a big deal if I wasn't pregnant, but Porter has also been sick a lot, and who likes it when their child is sick?

When Porter is sick, Seth and I keep him out of nursery.

PLEASE do the same thing.

...stepping off soapbox...

Porter Turns Three

Porter is now a 3-year-old!!!

We can't believe it.

And, yet, at the same time we can.

Right after breakfast, we brought down our present for him.

Ever since Christmas, he's been so excited about opening presents.

He was even more excited to see what it was!

And couldn't wait for Daddy to open it for him.

That night, Porter invited his best friends over for some cake and ice cream!

Happy Birthday, Porter!!!

We love you!

PS: Porter also got some sweet gifts from his grandparents!! We just haven't gotten pictures, yet...

Seth's #28

Sadly, on Seth's birthday he had a test to study for.

So, we didn't get to do anything for it until Friday.

We went out to Stanford's for Valentines and celebrated Seth's birthday at Cheesecake Factory where we each had a slice of cheesecake.

Seth's was sweetened with Splenda, of course :)

Starting next year, Seth's birthday should be more exciting since he wont have any more tests to worry about!

Happy Birthday, Handsome.

Valentines Week

I say "week" because we didn't really get to go out to celebrate until Friday.

Teddy picked out by Porter!

We hope you had a great one!

The Story & 12 Week Ultrasound

In case you were curious, I thought I'd explain how the last 13 weeks have been...
Seth and I found out we were pregnant before Christmas break.
I was only 3 weeks along, and was a little surprised at how quickly we had a positive pregnancy test.
It all worked out, though, because I was able to get on DHS (medicaid) and get my Lovenox shots before leaving town for almost 4 weeks.
The reasoning behind having to take the Lovenox can be found on >this post<
I was a little curious as to why I would have had a positive pregnancy test so soon...
...then at about 6 weeks I started getting nightmares (yes, nightmares) that I was having twins.
I assumed it was the hormones taking over my brain.
At my 8 weeks doctor appointment, I was a little concerned because I was spotting, so they sent me in to an ultrasound to "check the viability of the baby".
Same thing happened with Porter at 8 weeks.
Anyway, when the ulrtrasound technician got to the area where the baby should be, I thought it looked a little strange.
Like there was too much going on.
It's gotta be just the angle of the ulrasound device, I thought.
Then the technician turned to me and asked a question I thought I'd never have to worry about answering.
"Do twins run in your family?"
Slowly, I said "Yeeeeeeeessss" as I all-of-a-sudden felt flush and was very glad that I was lying down.
Because this changed everything...the technician left the room to give me a moment to deal with the news and prepare for a longer ultrasound.
Seth had a very big grin on his surprised face.
I felt like I was going insane.
Ican'tbetheonehavingtwinsIalreadyhaveamillionissusestodealwithwhenI'mpregnantthiscan'tbehappeningandyetthereisproofrightthereonthescreenthattherearetwobabieswhatamIgoingtodo
...
I was in shock for 2 weeks.
Seth was so excited that he started telling everyone he saw.
I started feeling ill about that same time.
I blame the news.
I started feeling excited and a little bit more ready last week.
Took a while...
I think it came with starting to feel better.
THEN...
We went to our 12 week appointment, where we learned that we would now have two doctors.
One close and the other in Portland.
There's no NICU nearby, and if these two come early, I would need to be in Portland anyway.
SO...
Last week I had my first appointment in Portland.
It started with an ultrasound...which always makes me happy.
There, I learned that these little ones are IDENTICAL!!
I'm excited.
Afterwards, I met up with the doc who basically gave me a "gameplan" to go by.
In other words, he explained to me that because my babies share a placenta, there's a possiblity of  this or this or that or this.
I'd rather not go into all the details.
It's...overwhelming...and has been all I can think about all week.
And then he explained that there's also a possibility none of it would happen.
I'm hoping it's the latter.
I didn't much like the things he told me.
Starting at 18 weeks, I'll be going in for an ultrasound to check on them every other week in Portland to see if any of the "maybe this is going to happen" things are happening.
I'm not too fond of driving in Portland traffic, but I like the idea of seeing my babies every two weeks.

So, now you're all caught up!

I figured I'd save the ultrasound pictures for last so we can end on a cute and happy note!

Here is baby A for this ultrasound:

And, baby B:

Their cute litle heads:

And, a pretty decent one of their tummies:

Getting still shots of them was next to impossible.

They never stopped moving!

Just like their brother...

The Latest

You probably already know about this if you:

1. Are a family member
2. Are a local friend
3. Are a distant close friend
4. Are a member of our ward
5. Happened to scroll down to the bottom of the blog in the past 4 weeks

If you are not or didn't do any of those things, here is the latest...

12 weeks

Yep, we are pregnant!

But, that's not all...

8 weeks--will be getting another ultrasound on Tues.

We're seeing DOUBLE!

The Yogurt Lover

Porter will eat at least four yogurts a day if I let him.

He goes to the fridge, grabs one, and even gets his own spoon.

I'm glad he is self-sufficient enough to do so, but come on, child.

You really need to eat other things as well.

Like the yummy food Mom makes for dinner.

Counting

Porter is very good at counting to 10!

Mud

When you can't go outside in the mud to play with your little loader...

...play with the "mud" inside instead.

Tantrums

There are no locks on our bedroom doors.

Porter's doesn't even really close the whole way.

So, when he throws his temper tantrums and refuses to let us have any sort of mute on his ear-splitting screams, we sometimes have to improvise...

Hoping this phase goes away quickly.
