Little Artist

Porter's drawings have changed!

He's now making actual human-like shapes!

Here are his latest.

Drawing #1...

Now, when you look at this, you may, like me, think that there's Daddy, Mommy, Porter, and his three sisters, right?

Well, you'd be wrong.

The description...

Straight from Porter's lips.

For drawing #2, I thought for sure I had it right...

Mommy and Daddy in front of the temple (the squiggly stuff).

Nope!

Well, there are two things we can learn from these drawings.

First, mine and Porter's minds are totally different.

This should had have been obvious to me with how argumentative he's been lately, but I digress.

Second, Porter really misses his buddy Ezra.

Not only has he been drawing him, he's been "playing" with him as if he were his new imaginary friend.

Step aside "Bad Guy."

Yes, this does concern me slightly even though it is really cute.

Utah Arts Festival

Saturday night, we made a stop over at...

source

...with some friends of ours.

Porter, Tommy, & Ella got a chance to create, while we adults enjoyed helping and watching.

This was called a windmill (??) Yeah, don't really get it.
In the process

Starting to write his name

Gluing the circle on.

What the circles were glued on

Kinda creepy.

Tommy enjoying his wand.
We didn't stay long.

I enjoyed the artwork and the jewlry!

Seth and I enjoyed the live big band that was playing!

And, we especially enjoyed our company!

We spotted this piano on our way to another location, and Laura hopped on for a quick rendition of Maple Leaf Rag...
Very impressive, Laura!
Apparently, these pianos are all over downtown!

They sound a bit like old recordings of pianos, as they're not in very great shape, but how fun is that!?

Laura's song choice was perfect for the piano sound, in my opinion.

Our Trax ride home was...interesting.

The trains were delayed because of a wreak.

The train we caught only had one car.

It was crowded, and the crowd didn't even thin out as the train kept stopping.

We don't live all that near the downtown area, so we were surprised when the biggest crowd that left was at our stop.

And, it was us.

As far as our latest Trax experiences have gone, I don't think our family is meant to ride the train.

It was a fun night, though!

Thanks, Penroses!

Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival

Seth and I have lived here for three years, but have never gone to the Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival, so we decided to go!

Especially since our days are now numbered...

There were so many cute and fun pieces!

Here are a few of our favorites...

Redecorating

I finally got the shelves I've been waiting all summer to get from IKEA!!!

So, because I got them, I got to finish my decor that's been waiting for them!

Matchy-matchy and so much brighter!
If you've read my creations blog, you'll know the pillows are made with placemats!

Photographer

...for a day :)

I actually had a lot of fun taking pictures!

Maybe I've found something I might want to get into more.

I'm definitely no pro...
...but, I figured I'd share some of my favorites of the day.

Sidewalk Artistry

The inventer of sidewalk chalk was a genius.

How else can you keep three little cuties so occupied ouside when the slide get's too crowded or boring?
Bring out chairs.

But even then, cars are more exciting.

A look of guilt? I think so!
Another good use for sidewalk chalk...

Face paint!

I love those pictures of Lyla.

I also love her cute little squeaky shoes!

Thanks Jordan!

Latest Happenings

Sooo, I think this is the longest I've gone without blogging for a while...

Well, nothing really happened until the garage sale we were a part of last Saturday.

We sold a whopping $3 worth of stuff, but I had a good opportunity to try to sell some crafts :)

I made these...
Got the idea from my cute cousin who has some similar characters in her boy's room. I will do the whole alphabet...anyway...
I also made a few hand-embroidery items...which I don't have pictures of at the moment...so will post those later.
I decided to start my own "business" of sorts and sell my art and crafts. As soon as I get everything from home, I'll post those on my other blog as well as a way to purchase these if you like :)

You're welcome to go check them out!

In other news...
Porter had a quick stomach flu bug last week and a doctor's appointment. The flu was a few days long, which was hard on us, but he's definitely bigger! 98% in his head...26 ish % weight...60 something % height. I should write it down next time, but I definitely remember the 98% head. Crazy.

Tooth 15 and 16 have arrived.

Porter says: balloon, ball, please (said this for a while but I dont think I told you)

He has his own jibberish he speaks all the time...loves reading books.

He's caught the ball a few times while playing catch

He's the biggest mimick there is...

Sorry this is shorter...Porter's on my lap and trying to kick the keyboard away...

Have a good one!

PS: *more of a reminder for me than anything* I need to tell you the Washer and Dryer dilemma we had...ridiculous. Another time!
