Healthier Baby
Porter is doing much better than he was a week ago. Last monday, when we went to the doctor, Porter weighed in at 7 lbs 13 oz. This was really scary because he was severely underweight and even looked very sullen, but when we weighed him in at the doctor today, he was 9 lbs 3 oz. If he keeps this fast weight gain up, in four weeks he will be normal weight for his age and Seth and I will be relieved. As for now, I'm nursing, supplementing, and pumping to feed this little guy. I really don't have much time to myself or to get a lot done because of it, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes...maybe I'll just go to formula. What do you think?

Messin' with Texas
Thought we'd let "y'all" know: Seth got offered a really good deal with APX this summer, so yet again, we will be going down to Texas to install alarm systems. We will be going to AUSTIN to do those wonderful installs again. We hadn't planned on going to install with APX this summer, but the offer was too good to pass up. We prayed about it, and felt it was the right thing to do even though it's such a long drive there...and such a long drive back to Portland. Luckily, Porter and I will be flying down so Seth can get there quickly. I would much rather do that than drive. Especially with such a little baby.
Porter had some problems eating. He wouldn't latch on right and just had issues sucking...to the point where I would feed him for an hour trying to keep him awake. He wouldn't get enough even doing that, so yesterday at the doctor's, we were told that Porter has what is called "failure to thrive." It's when a baby is getting everything he needs, but just doesn't seem to know what to do with what is presented to him so just doesn't gain enough weight because he burns his calories too quick for how much food he gets. So, I'm pumping and supplementing for a week...giving him 2 oz. every two hours to fatten him up. After this week, I hope he's better at eating so I wont have to supplement so much. He's a much happier child today...therefore I'm much happier, and that's really all that matters.

Thumb Sucker
Porter has discovered his thumb! I'm so proud, because that was my favorite finger once. It's so cute to see him suck his thumb.
He doesn't like being on his belly much, but we all know it's good for him :)
Also, he seems to like to cry, so I had a bit of fun ;)

The many faces of Porter
In attempt to get pictures of Porter's smile, I kept my camera handy over a few weeks and got many interesting pictures...unfortunately, I wasn't able to use my camera to catch it because it has a light before the flash that makes him grimace or get wide eyes. So...I used Mom's camera and finally caught it! Enjoy his faces!
