Georgetown

A few of us wives down here went to Georgetown to go shopping at a really cute market event they were having on Saturday. We went to some nice boutiques and to a store called "Hippie Cowgirl" to get a hats for the upcoming rodeos we will be attending. Gotta fit in :) And had lunch at a really nice restaurant called Romeo's. The only thing I ended up getting was a cute little cow outfit for Porter, so he can be a "cowboy" ;). It was a lot of fun, and poor Porter got his first little sunburn because he wouldn't keep his little blanket on his legs while we were out in the sun. I think I need to get some sort of covering for his stroller...or a stroller that I can put his car seat in so he can have some shade...

Some Cuteness from our Cuteness

Here's a few more adorable pictures of Porter :)

"Look, Mama Jensen, here's your cute outfit you gave me with the woof woof bum!"

"I'm holding my head up better, and not crying so much, but I still don't like being on my belly Mommy..."

Got it!!

Aloha!

Our ward had a luau for Enrichment this month :) It was a lot of fun! I always get excited about things I can dress up to...

Porter and I got "Best Dressed Couple!" He looked so cute in his little grass skirt! It's the only time a boy can be in a skirt...unless he's Scottish...

Here we are with Kristi Bassett! She's such a sweetie, and has been such a life-saver!

APX wives!...minus the two office assistants...boy, I don't miss that job.

Strong Boy!!

Porter has been such a strong little baby boy! He was able to hold his head up the day we had him, and has been able to pull himself up to a sitting position for about a minute when he's on my lap for the past few months! I should have documented these milestones with our camera, but I'm the one who works the camera...becaue I'm the one who is home alone with him all the time...makes it difficult to film when I'm the one holding him...
I'm thinking he's got his Daddy's genes with the strength, because I'm definitely not the muscular one...even though maybe now I'm getting a little something with how much I carry him around and how much I've been working out :)
The reason I'm mentioning this at all is because for this last week, he's been able to play a game with me and Seth where we hold his hands and he pulls himself to a standing postion and sits down slowly. I'm just amazed how strong this little guy is!! I think I'll attempt a documentation when Seth is home tomorrow. Either way, I haven't been able to post video on this website...takes too long...I'll post a picture or two :)
One thing Porter hasn't quite figured out, yet, is how to push himself up with his hands when he's on his belly, but he sure arches his back well...maybe he'll be one of those babies who walks before he crawls! :)

Porterisms

I set Porter on the floor on a blanket...like I usually do...

Doesn't he look cute?!

...and he ends up completely off of the blanket!...by the way, he only started crying because I ran to get the camera...I'm really not a bad mom, I swear!

Peek-a-boo!

Proof of Porter's tounge discovery! :)

And of Seth's ;)

Temporary Texans

Porter has found his tounge! It's so cute when he's playing, because he sticks it out at you all the time. It's really funny. I'll have to get a picture and post it! That is, if he wont scowl when the light before the flash shows up...

I have made new friends down here in Texas, and it's been a real life-saver. I'm so glad I've met the Bassetts, the Townsends, the Mabeys and the APX wives. I've found that I'm keeping myself satisfied as far as socializing goes, which is a lot better than what I was doing just a few weeks ago. I have realized, though, that I put in so much more effort to just walk out the door because, not only am I taking Porter...I'm taking his entire room and bathroom along...(the bathroom is like my "lab" with his formula stuff...)It's worth it to just get out the door and do something.

Yesterday, Seth finished his 25th install of the week, making this last week his best week in three years of doing APX over the summer :) This is definitely very good!! I like it, especially, because he doesn't mind if I spend a little bit of fun money on myself, decorations, and Porter every once in a while. It's nice to be making money!

Ah, the Comfort of Minerals!

So, I just got the Bare Minerals makeup...and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! It's especially good for the humidity down here in Round Rock, but it feels so comfortable! I'm definitely hooked. I'd tried Bare Minerals before now because my younger sister, Joanna, was using it and let me try it, but it wasn't my color, so I didn't like it much as far as that went...well I got my color, and believe me, I have never found any makeup that is my color because I am so extremely fair skinned, and I'm loving this! It doesn't even feel like I'm wearing makeup!! Hooray for makeup gurus! Mom got me mineral makeup for Christmas, and I've been wanting to have it permanently since, because it was so comfortable, and have now convinced Seth that the price is pretty much the same, so he let me get it! YAY! I think everyone should try it :)

An Ode to our Mothers :)

To my mom:
I want to tell you how much I love and appreicate you. You are always there for me and have always been there no matter how I acted around you. I admire how you are always in the service of others and I hope to become as dedicated to making others happy as you are. No batch of cookies or bread has ever been just for us...something, while young, we didn't appreciate much, but as I've grown I've started to do as well. I hope to become the amazing woman I hope you know you are. Your faith, your example...I thank you for all you have done for me and continue to do. Especially, I thank you for helping me raise Porter for the short time we were in Twin Falls. I definitely have more respect for you now that I'm a mother. I hope to be as good of a mother and friend as you are and were to me. Love you mom. Besides Seth, you're my best friend.

To Seth's mom:
I couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable Mother-in-law. You are more to me than just a mother-in-law, you are my friend. That is something that most daughters-in-law can't say about their mothers-in law. I'm so glad I have the opportunity to know you and to get to know you better in the years to come. I hope you know that I love you and admire you. Thank you for having your son :), and thank you for treating me as your own.

Happy Mother's Day! (a few days late...)

Movin' Movin' Movin'

So here we are again in Texas :) Never thought we'd be back here again, but life takes you where you don't expect a lot...at least in our lives :) So far, Seth has been doing extremely well as far as installs go, and I'm pretty much staying at home with the babe all day...I need to make friends so I can get out of the apartment or I'll probably go crazy. We like our ward here, and everyone we've met has been really nice. Austin, as far as we know, is better than Dallas and El Paso in friendliness. Maybe it's because we have a baby ;)
Porter is doing well! He's lots fatter and everything is going fine. As far as nursing goes, I've decided to wean him. It's just too frustrating for me to keep pumping all the time. I figure a happier mommy equals a happier baby. I appreciate everyone's comments on the last post, though, but I really feel this is what I need to do. Three good months of nursing is better than nothing. Besides, I'm going to wean gradually, so maybe I'll have four or five good months. Porter doesn't really want to wean, it seems, because the other day he was really grumpy and didn't want anything but me as far as food went. Too bad he's such a terrible eater. It took me till 9 pm to figure out that he wanted me, so the whole day was spent with a bawling child...pretty frustrating at times, I'm sure you other mothers know.
Mother's day was a good day :) Seth made dinner and I got to nap. I was very satisfied with that. We certainly hope all is well with all of you!

Healthier Baby

Porter is doing much better than he was a week ago. Last monday, when we went to the doctor, Porter weighed in at 7 lbs 13 oz. This was really scary because he was severely underweight and even looked very sullen, but when we weighed him in at the doctor today, he was 9 lbs 3 oz. If he keeps this fast weight gain up, in four weeks he will be normal weight for his age and Seth and I will be relieved. As for now, I'm nursing, supplementing, and pumping to feed this little guy. I really don't have much time to myself or to get a lot done because of it, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes...maybe I'll just go to formula. What do you think?

Messin' with Texas

Thought we'd let "y'all" know: Seth got offered a really good deal with APX this summer, so yet again, we will be going down to Texas to install alarm systems. We will be going to AUSTIN to do those wonderful installs again. We hadn't planned on going to install with APX this summer, but the offer was too good to pass up. We prayed about it, and felt it was the right thing to do even though it's such a long drive there...and such a long drive back to Portland. Luckily, Porter and I will be flying down so Seth can get there quickly. I would much rather do that than drive. Especially with such a little baby.
Porter had some problems eating. He wouldn't latch on right and just had issues sucking...to the point where I would feed him for an hour trying to keep him awake. He wouldn't get enough even doing that, so yesterday at the doctor's, we were told that Porter has what is called "failure to thrive." It's when a baby is getting everything he needs, but just doesn't seem to know what to do with what is presented to him so just doesn't gain enough weight because he burns his calories too quick for how much food he gets. So, I'm pumping and supplementing for a week...giving him 2 oz. every two hours to fatten him up. After this week, I hope he's better at eating so I wont have to supplement so much. He's a much happier child today...therefore I'm much happier, and that's really all that matters.

Thumb Sucker

Porter has discovered his thumb! I'm so proud, because that was my favorite finger once. It's so cute to see him suck his thumb.
He doesn't like being on his belly much, but we all know it's good for him :)
Also, he seems to like to cry, so I had a bit of fun ;)

Porter's Favorite Hold

Porter only seems to like to cuddle with his mama :)
His favorite position with everyone else is as follows...

Our adorable little monkey

Very attractive drool line there...
