The many faces of Porter

In attempt to get pictures of Porter's smile, I kept my camera handy over a few weeks and got many interesting pictures...unfortunately, I wasn't able to use my camera to catch it because it has a light before the flash that makes him grimace or get wide eyes. So...I used Mom's camera and finally caught it! Enjoy his faces!

Grins and Laughs

So, because that last blog was pretty uneventful besides pictures, I'll write a bit :)
Porter has begun to smile and laugh when he's talked to, and it just makes me smile. He's so sweet and adorable, and I just get so excited when he's smiling. It's amazing how little things can make your day.
Now, when I say he's sweet and adorable, I mean to add "when he's not throwing a temper tantrum." I've always heard that babies come down with their own personalities, and now I realize how true that is. He's a sweetie for the majority of the day, but when he throws those tantrums, there's no stopping it. It must come with the red hair ;)

One Month, Blessing, and St. Patricks Day!

This post is in no particular order because I have a crying baby on my lap...so here are pictures!

Porter at one month! 3-19

Baby Blessing! Recognize the outifit and blanket? We were really glad Seth's family could make it! We certainly enjoyed their company. St. Patricks Day! We sure love our little one!!

All in the Family!

We just can't seem to stop taking pictures of this little man! I'm sure you don't mind ;) Porter just gets bigger every day!!
Because of the amount of pictures, here's another slide :)

As far as news goes, I'm at home being a mama all day and night and loving every minute of it, while Seth works most of the time. He is now only working two jobs: McDonalds and Signature Alarm. He likes this better than three jobs...who wouldn't?

Porter's here!!

Porter Allen was born Feb 19th at 7:02 pm. 7 lbs 5 oz 20.5 in
We are so happy to have met our little sliver of heaven.
I went in Tuesday morning to get induced at 7:30. I started active labor around 4:00, had some Stadol for the pain, and actually slept a bit! I woke up needing to push at about 6:30, and had Porter in a half hour! Let me tell you, natural is hard, but I recovered rather quickly. I had to have an episiotomy, but the pain from that is nothing...just a bit irritating. I surprised myself and my family, including Seth, when they heard I did it natural. I'm glad I did. I certainly have a lot more appreciation for my mom, and Seth for his.
Porter is adorable. Our little "mini-Seth." We love him so immensely, and he and I are getting spoiled with all this family around.

Seth's 25!!

We celebrated Seth's birthday at Chilie's on Wednesday, but we wanted to do something for him on his actual birthday, so we threw him a family party with his favorite cake!...at 11:30 pm...after he came home and showered...but he was pleasantly excited, as you can see. :) His trumpet-player lungs certainly help him with blowing out his candles...
Seth came home that night with some good news, too! He's been accepted to Pacific, and he's really wanting to go there, so we will most likely be in Portland area in August! Lots of changes!!

39 Weeks!

So here I am...39 weeks and ready to go. Yesterday, the doctor told me they will induce me on the 19th, so this will be the last prego pic! Hard to believe, yet I'm so ready to be done with this pregnancy. I'm excited and scared to death at the same time...

Oh, and I got bangs today, so there was another reason to take a picture ;)

Seth went to Pacific University by Portland last weekend where he says they really liked him, so we might be going there! It's really pretty there, and it really doesn't matter to me where we go. He's still busy with three jobs, and he's wanting a break. With a new baby coming next week, I don't think that break will be coming too soon. :S

Next post may be of Porter!!

Valentine Tag

This is something fun that I saw on Jenni's blog. I'm not doing much at the moment, so I thought I'd share a bit about Seth and me for Valentines Day :)

How long have you been together?

We started dating almost three years ago and have been married 2 years 2 months.

How old is he?
25 on Feb 15

How old are you?
21

Who eats more?
Seth normally, but being pregnant has made us pretty close to the same.

Who said "I love you" first?
Seth. It was really sweet.

Who is taller?
Seth, but not by much ;)

Who sings better?
I think Seth is a good singer, but I've been trained privately since nine years old, so it's not really a fair question...

Who is smarter?
Seth, definitely. He's got a 3.95 GPA Bachelors Degree, and got 370 out of 400 on his Optometry Admissions Test. He's a genius! He'd never admit it, himself, but I like to brag about him :)

Who does the laundry?
I do unless he's running out of clothes.

Who does the dishes?
I do, usually, but when we didn't have a dishwasher, he did it for me most of the time. I'm really glad he did because I hate hand-washing dishes.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed?
Well, it depends on where we are. Now, I do, but usually he does. He switches around whenever we go somewhere new.

Who pays the bills?
Seth, because I don't make enough to pay them. My money usually goes to groceries when I'm earning money...which isn't happening right now.

Who mows the lawn?
Haven't had one, so I don't know! I mowed the lawn at my parents' house, but he'll probably do it when we have a house.

Who cooks dinner?
I usually do. Sometimes, Seth will surprise me and offer to cook, and it's nice to have a break from it. He usually makes some sort of pasta that he can't mess up, but I really appreciate it :)

Who is more stubborn?
I'd have to say we're both pretty stubborn about certain things, but I probably give in more than he does...it's okay :)

Who kissed who first?
I'd say we kissed each other at the same time.

Who asked who out?
Seth asked me to go with him to a Jazz club in Seattle on tour, but I didn't go with him because I wanted to see the space needle. This was on tour, so I don't know if it really counts...good thing this didn't put a damper on the relationship.

Who proposed?
Seth did, and I'm glad. I'm old-fashioned, I guess.

Who is more sensitive?
I would probably have to say I am more than he is. He can be sensitive, and when he cries, I always end up joining him because he doesn't cry much.

Who has more friends?
That's what's nice about being married and having couples as friends, because then it's equal!

Who has more siblings?
Seth has 8 siblings and I have 6. Seth wins. Even counting in-laws, that just adds two to both sides, so he still wins...

Who wears the pants in the relationship?
I'm pretty sure Seth has never worn a skirt, and I wear pants every day except when I'm supposed to wear a dress.

Who are you tagging?
Whoever wants to do this...I'd like to hear more stories :)

Cheezy Grin for Week 36

I finally got around to posting this picture. It's not really one of my favorites, but here's a pic of me at 36 weeks! I'm currently 37, but maybe this will be my last one... If this baby doesn't come early, I'll take another at about 40 weeks.
Daddy's news: Seth's on an alternate list for acceptance in California (I'm assuming this is routine because he's a shoe-in). He's working as a "grease monkey" at Flying J in Jerome (if you don't know where that is, it's right by Twin Falls...just across the bridge)...he's still doing Mcdonalds, but will change it to Part-time, and still the only technician for the alarm company here. The sales reps aren't doing too well, so he needs the other jobs. He's a busy man!

Our Adorable Baby Boy!!!

I just can't believe how close we are to having this baby! These are ultrasound pictures at 36 weeks. Porter is such a cute little boy!!

We got some 3-D pictures, which are just adorable!!!

Look at that grimace!

Looks like he's got Daddy's mouth! :S

I hope his nose isn't really THAT big...

As far as getting this baby out early? Probably not going to happen. Nothing is happening so far, and according to the estimate on the ultrasound, he's currently 6 pounds...he might be a ten pounder like his dad. Oh joy!

Daddy's news: Seth has a new job at McDonald's. He's installing for an alarm company here, also, so he has quit the call center. This has made him much happier. He had his interview today in California and will find out if he is accepted to the school there on Monday.

Move to Twin

So because of various reasons, mainly money, Seth and I moved to Twin Falls to live with my family in a room in the basement. We have settled in nicely, but are still working around getting our schedules organized. It's hard to feel like we're living here...it just feels like we're on a long vacation. For scheduling so far, I am doing two choirs on the CSI campus and Seth is taking his Microbiology Lab he forgot to take last semester and doing the Jazz Band on campus. It's definitely a change from Rexburg and BYU-Idaho, but we are at least doing things we love. Seth is in the process of finding a better job so he can provide as much as possible for our little family and save up for optometry school. He has a job at a survey place, much like Western Watts in Rexburg, and hates it. I don't blame him. I hated Western Watts, but at least he has a job. I'm planning on working at Snoasis over the summer again to help out. By that time, Porter should be old enough to be babysat. I'll have a schedule with him by then, too. Seth has an interview at Southern California College of Optometry in five days. That will hopefully have good results because that's where he's wanting to go to optometry school...at least for now. He hasn't heard from Pacific University about an interview with them yet, but I'm sure he will. Other than that, we are preparing for Porter to come! I'll have a baby shower in about a week in Rexburg and another in Twin in February...probably after he's born. That'll help us out a lot.
So that's about it!
We certainly hope all is well with all of you!

Christmas in Casper

Seth and I spent Christmas in Casper with the Jensens :). We had a lot of fun doing various activities. Here are some pictures!

Family Swim Competition...We won most...can ya tell?

Seth with the Christmas antlers they had to wear for one of the "meets." It was hilarious.
Pregnant-Bellied Women :)
Seth's and my first gingerbread house together!

We hope you had a Merry Christmas!...At least I do ;)

Sewing Stuff

My first quilt and baby blessing outfit! Both took a long time to do...I'm really glad I got into those sewing classes, though, because the skills I have learned will help me a lot.

Prego Pic

I was asked to put a recent prego pic online because I am getting bigger ;) So, here ya go! Me at 28 weeks.
